               About our club

    Our Park Forest Rotary Club is one of more than 35,000 clubs worldwide dedicated to community service, world peace, and international understanding.

    We do this through local school involvement, financial contributions to local and international worthwhile charities, and community projects such as the Dictionary project giving dictionaries to 3rd graders, our Early Act programs and, as well as providing entertainment for the local community and promoting fellowship opportunities through our fundraising activities like our Poinsettia Plant Sale, Live/ Silent Auction and our upcoming Book sales.

    Today, our club's membership includes 17 men and women from all walks of life.  In the last five years alone, the Park Forest Rotary Club has contributed more than $40,000 in gifts and contributions.

    The Rotary Club of Park Forest was chartered in 1953 with Rotary International. Our club is diverse in occupation, gender, and race. Following the weekly meal, we participate in a 30 minute program consisting of a visiting speaker or presentation.

    The Rotary was founded in 1905 in Chicago as an outlet for business and professional leaders who wanted to volunteer and give back to their community. Today, Rotary International includes more than 35,000 clubs in more than 200 countries worldwide. Rotarians meet weekly for fellowship and discussion of local, regional, national and global topics.

    The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

    First: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

    Second: High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

    Third: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

    Fourth: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

    We end each meeting by reciting our four way test in unison. Adopted by Rotary in 1943, The 4-Way Test has been translated into more than a hundred languages and published in thousands of ways. It asks the following four questions:

    "Of the things we think, say or do:

    Is it the TRUTH?
    Is it FAIR to all concerned?
    Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
    Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"

    Where and when can you visit?

    We meet each Thursday at Carlo's for lunch at 12:15pm.
    Carlo's is located at 560 W Lincoln Hwy in Chicago Heights, IL.
